Hallo an alle,
Die Überschwemmungen waren wirklich schlimm in Bereichen von Funchal, Ribeira Brava und einigen Teilen im Südwesten der Insel, als auch im Norden wie in São Vicente. Samstag, den 21. 02., hat es in einer Stunde mehr geregnet als bei schlechtem Wetter in einem Monat. Der Osten war weniger betroffen, es gab nur Probleme in Santa Cruz, aber bei weitem nicht so heftig. Die Caniço-Gegend war weitestgehend nicht betroffen, ausgenommen der westliche Teil der Reis Magos Promenade, die mit Geäst usw. übersäht war. Die Hotels im Küstenbereich sind alle unversehrt. Die Aufräumungsarbeiten gehen überall gut voran, mit viel Unterstützung, und man versucht wieder, den Alltag aufzunehmen. Die Lage ist unter Kontrolle.

Madeira has been really badly hit by the floods, especially in the areas of Funchal, Ribeira Brava as well as in parts of the South West and in the North of the island, e.g. in São Vicente. On Saturday the 20th of February it has rained more in one hour as it normally does in one month of bad weather. The East of Madeira has been less effected, there were only problems in Santa Cruz but far not as massive as in the red alerted areas. Caniço was mostly fine apart of part of the promenade in Reis Magos down in Caniço de Baixo which was full of branches, mud, stones ect.The hotels built on the coast line are all fine. Everything is under control, and with lots of machinery and help also from outside the country the clean up is well going ahead. People try to get back to their everyday’s life.
