Der Hotel- und Servicestandard ist, auf europäischer Ebene gesehen und entsprechend der jeweiligen Kategorie, sehr gut.
Die meiste Hotels befinden sich in den Gebieten um Funchal, Lido und Praia Formosa sowie in den Regionen um Caniço, Caniço de Baixo / Santa Cruz und Machico. Weitere und verschiedene Unterkünftstypen findet man um Caletha im Südwesten der Insel, in Prazeres, ebenfalls im Südwesten und hoch oben auf den Cliffs gelegen sowie in vielen Regionen im Zentrum, Norden und Osten der Insel, in denen ebenfalls kleine Landhäuser und Quintas auf Sie warten.
Es gibt zwei künstlich preparierte Sandstrände mit gelbem Sand. Einer befindet sich in Caletha Beach im Südwesten der Insel und der andere in Machico im Osten der Insel. Der einzige natürliche Sandstrand mit dunklem Sand ist die Prainha im Gebiet Caniçal.

Other regions include Caletha in the southwest of the Island, Prazeres, also situated in the southwest and high on top of the cliffs. There are two man made beaches with yellow sand, one in Caletha Beach and one in Machico. The only natural beach with dark sand is Prainha in the area of Caniçal.
